Responsibilities What you get to do every day:
Monitor andmaintainmission-critical applications and infrastructure across AWS cloud environments, on-premises data centers, and remote edge locations supporting secure government operations.
Serve as the first line of defense in keeping systems runningsmoothly—monitoringdashboards, responding to alerts, andidentifyingpotential issues before theyimpactoperations.
Utilize SIEM platforms tomonitorsecurity events, analyze logs, andidentifypotential security incidents or operational anomalies requiring escalation or action.
Execute system changes, upgrades, and deployments following established change management procedures including change control board coordination, notifications, and scheduled maintenance windows.
Develop and maintain backout plans for all systemchangesensuring rapid recovery capability if issues arise during deployments or upgrades.
Coordinate with developers, configuration control boards, engineering managers, and government program managers to schedule maintenance, communicate system status, and manage expectations.
Monitor system health across diverse technologystackincluding PostgreSQL databases (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Timescale DB), Kubernetes clusters, D messaging platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar), and CI/CD pipelines.
Follow troubleshooting guides and runbooks to diagnose and resolve issues, escalating toappropriate teamswhen needed whilemaintainingclear communication with stakeholders.
Manage emergency response procedures including coordinating Authorized Outages when critical issues require immediate attention outside maintenance windows.
Maintain and improve operational documentation including runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and system configuration documentation.
Participate in shift rotations providing 24/7 operational support for globally dispersed systems, users, and mission-critical applications.
Conductroutine systemhealth checks, log reviews, and proactive monitoring toidentifypotential problems before they cause outages.
Support edge computing deployments and coordinate with remote site operations to ensure connectivity and system functionality.
Document incidents, actions taken, and resolutions to build organizational knowledge and support continuousimprovement.
Qualifications Clearance Required:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
3-5 years of experience in DevOps, systems administration, IT operations, or infrastructure support roles
Required Skills:
Solid Linux command line skills with RHEL or Rocky Linux systems
Experience following change management procedures and working with configuration control boards
Strong communicationskills with ability tointerface effectively withtechnical teams, management, and government stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and escalate appropriately when issues exceed knowledge or authority
Experiencemonitoringsystems and responding to alerts in production environments
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to AWS cloud services and basic understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts
Familiarity with SIEM platforms or log analysis tools for security and operational monitoring
Basic understanding of databases, particularly PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and willingness to learn operational aspects
Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, or similar)
Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar deployment pipeline platforms
Basic scripting or automation experience helpful for routine tasks
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery procedures
Experience working in secure government environments or SCIFs
Background coordinating across multiple time zones or supporting global operations
Experience with incident management and root cause analysis processes
CompTIA Security+ certification
What is ideal?
Understanding of infrastructure as code concepts (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK)
Exposure to messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar) or data streaming technologies
Experience supporting geographically distributed or edge computing environments
AWS certifications or willingness to pursue certification
Intelligence Community Experience preferred
