The Role Telum

is seeking an experienced

Targeteer Analyst SME

to deliver precision targeting expertise in support of USSOCOM components and subordinate organizations. As a Targeteer SME, you will perform and mentor on precision point mensuration, Joint Desired Point of Impact (JDPI) identification and placement, weaponeering, and Collateral Damage Estimate (CDE) analysis. You will provide authoritative guidance to senior leadership, conduct training for incoming targeteers, and support both dynamic and deliberate targeting operations in deployed and CONUS environments.

What You’ll Do

Execute precision point mensuration and accurately identify and place JDPIs (“point dropping”) to support mission outcomes.

Perform detailed weaponeering and Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE) analysis; produce clear, defensible estimates and recommendations for commanders.

Produce and validate target material (TMP), including full target development and target validation packages.

Train, mentor, and certify incoming targeteers for forward-deployed RTFs and task forces across all TF-specific targeting activities.

Prepare and present high-quality briefings and finished intelligence products to senior leaders and external partners.

Coordinate with multi-discipline intelligence and targeting teams to integrate effects, collection, and legal/policy considerations into targeting solutions.

Ensure all targeting activities comply with applicable laws, rules of engagement, and DoD policy.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years

of all-source intelligence analyst experience at the full performance level.

5+ years

of experience working for or with USSOCOM, Special Operations Forces, or national intelligence agencies (e.g., NSA, CIA, DIA).

7+ years

experience serving as a targeteer in an Intelligence Task Force, National Intelligence Support Team, NMJIC, Combatant Command, or equivalent operational unit.

3+ years

of direct intelligence support to special operations.

3+ years

experience producing formal finished intelligence assessments (white papers, targeting packages, serialized finished intelligence).

Certified in

CJCSI 3505.01C

(Target Coordinate Mensuration Certification and Program Accreditation).

Demonstrated expertise in precision mensuration, weaponeering, CDE analysis, and target material production and validation.

Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering intelligence briefings at the

O-6 / GS-15

level or higher.

Advanced proficiency with contemporary all-source analytic techniques, targeting methodologies (including nodal/HVI analysis), and the current suite of intelligence tools and automation.

Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills; proven ability to direct subordinate analysts to produce mission-quality products.

Desired Skills

Recent SOF/USSOCOM targeting or effects experience.

Familiarity with legal/collateral frameworks and integration of effects-based targeting into operational planning.

Experience working in multi-agency or coalition targeting environments.
