JOB SUMMARY This position will join a team of dedicated professionals that support the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) and Meter Data Management (MDM) Systems used by Georgia Power. The team is responsible for the continuous delivery of valid data from smart-points (meters, lighting controls and modules) to the head‑end system, along with further delivery to the Meter Data Management system and various enterprise systems. This position is responsible for system planning, designing, testing, implementing, documenting and supporting the operational systems and business critical processes used by Georgia Power. A foundational knowledge of application development, SQL databases, and software development life cycle processes. The position will be filled at a level dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management of Information Systems, other software development related disciplines, and other Engineering degrees

Three (3) + years of full‑time equivalent work experience in a development or technical support role

Proficient with troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of processes

Experience performing data analysis with different RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres and Hadoop)

Experience creating dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or Tableau is a plus

Proficient with programming languages (C#, Python, PERL, Shell and PL/SQL)

Knowledge of integration standards and methods (MultiSpeak, SISS, XML, JSON and Batch)

Experience with Microsoft and other computer software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Visual Studio)

Knowledge of Sensus FlexNet, Smart Meter / Smart Point Infrastructure Systems is helpful

Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms

Ability to document and diagram technical systems and architectures

Periodic after hours and weekend work

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Assuring the continuous delivery of valid data from the AMI endpoint devices into the AMI head‑end and MDM systems for billing

Provide support for the AMI & MDM systems and assist with the development and implementation of new products and services

Develop and support solutions meeting the business requirements

Provide analysis and troubleshooting for the AMI & MDM Systems, related interfaces and business processes as needed

Develop process improvement strategies for the AMI & MDM Operations team

Monitor integrations with the AMI & MDM systems

Monitor and detect anomalies to the quality standards for the data

Managing the application lifecycle, monitoring, installations, upgrades and change management processes of the AMI system with support and guidance from the Technology Organization and various business departments

Partner with appropriate teams to implement systems in a standardized support model with the Technology Organization
