Job Summary
The Automotive Sales Manager is responsible for driving new and used vehicle sales performance, managing and developing the sales team, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role partners closely with the General Sales Manager, Finance & Insurance (F&I), and sales teams to execute dealership strategies, hit volume and gross targets, and maintain compliance with all OEM and regulatory standards.
Compensation $150,000-$270,000

Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Performance
Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of sales consultants to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals
Desk deals, structure transactions, and ensure optimal gross profit while maintaining customer satisfaction
Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) including close rate, gross per unit, units per salesperson, and CSI
Execute sales processes consistently (road-to-the-sale, follow‑up, CRM usage)
Team Development
Recruit, train, and onboard new sales consultants
Conduct regular one‑on‑ones, performance reviews, and daily sales meetings
Provide ongoing coaching on product knowledge, objection handling, and negotiation skills
Customer Experience
Ensure a seamless handoff between Sales, BDC, and F&I
Handle customer escalations and resolve issues professionally and promptly
Maintain high CSI and online reputation scores
Inventory & Merchandising
Partner with management to manage new and used vehicle inventory levels
Support pricing strategies based on market data and OEM guidance
Ensure vehicles are properly merchandised, lot‑ready, and represented accurately online
Operations & Compliance
Ensure adherence to dealership policies, OEM standards, and state/federal regulations
Maintain accurate deal documentation and CRM data
Collaborate with F&I to maximize product penetration while staying compliant
Required Qualifications
Prior Automotive Sales Manager and/or Used Vehicle Sales Manager experience
Proven track record of achieving sales volume and gross profit targets
Strong desking, closing, and negotiation skills
Experience working with CRM systems and dealership software
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an OEM‑franchise dealership. GMC experience a plus
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales reports and KPIs
Bilingual (a plus, not required)
Strong understanding of GM incentive programs and GM Financial offerings
