Job Summary:
The Outpatient Psychiatry Physician Assistant/PMHNP functions as a highly valued member of the Colorado Psychiatry Solutions medical team. This provider will perform psychiatric evaluations, prescribe and manage medications, and contribute to the implementation of integrated treatment plans for patients with complex psychiatric conditions. Care will be provided with an emphasis on harm reduction and evidence‑based interventions.
This role is a good fit for professionals who are highly motivated, compassionate, and committed to improving outcomes for patients with treatment‑resistant mental health challenges.
Highlight: There are NO on‑call or weekend requirements.
Scope of Duties: Essential Functions
Patient Care
Provide outpatient and/or telehealth psychiatric care
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including interviews with patients and family as needed
Diagnose mental health conditions and formulate differential diagnoses
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including ketamine and TMS as appropriate
Monitor treatment outcomes and make adjustments as needed
Order and interpret relevant labs and diagnostic tests
Prioritize harm reduction and limit controlled substance prescribing, including stimulants and benzodiazepines
Collaboration & Supervision
Collaborate closely with CPS psychiatrists and medical directors
Work in partnership with therapists, care coordinators, and external providers
Supervise and guide medical support staff (nurses, medical assistants, technicians)
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EHR within 48 business hours
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and clinical standards
Maintain an active, unrestricted license in Colorado as a PA‑C or PMHNP
Holistic & Integrative Approach
Incorporate lifestyle, nutrition, trauma history, and psychosocial factors into treatment planning
Apply integrative psychiatric practices as appropriate
Professional Standards
Stay current with advancements in psychiatry and behavioral health
Participate in team training and continuous improvement activities

Qualifications :
Required
PA‑C Applicants:
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
Active and unrestricted Colorado PA license
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
Current CPR certification
PMHNP Applicants:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited PMHNP program
Active, unrestricted Colorado Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) certification
Prescriptive authority in Colorado, including a DEA license with Schedule II‑V privileges
Current Colorado RXN‑NP (Prescriptive Authority) and DORA registration
Current CPR certification
Preferred
At least 1 year of clinical experience in psychiatry or behavioral health
Experience with treatment‑resistant mental health conditions
Certificate of Added Qualifications in Psychiatry (PA‑C) or post‑master’s PMHNP certification
Training in integrative psychiatry, psychedelic medicine, or addiction
Military Veteran status or experience working with military/underserved populations
Physical Requirements:
Full range of motion including manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
Occasional sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stretching
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
Adequate hearing and speaking to communicate effectively in person and remotely
