WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE? Our Onsite Network Engineer is a confident leader who oversees and directs a talented core transport network engineering team in maintaining and elevating our complex, large-scale infrastructure. With a network supporting over 8,000 devices, we need a strategic and proactive person to resolve client issues and help enhance their technical processes. You guide less-experienced IT staff and collaborate with hardware and software vendors to promptly and thoroughly address our clients' needs.
You lead network troubleshooting, routing, switching, and performance monitoring efforts and make recommendations for improvement. Supporting strategic business decisions, you evaluate and align new applications, infrastructure, and cloud processes. You deploy hardware, perform daily system monitoring, and assist security teams with identifying and addressing vulnerabilities. You're also responsible for actively communicating with senior clients to maintain relationships and ensure we consistently and appropriately serve their IT needs. To help improve efficiency, you also develop installation and configuration procedures and create automation scripts for migration and integration tasks.
WHAT DOES OUR ONSITE NETWORK ENGINEER NEED? Education and Certifications
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Active network certification, such as Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA)
Bachelor's degree in a technical field like computer science OR equivalent work experience
Experience and Technical Skills
10+ years of relevant IT experience
3+ years of experience supporting DOD, DISA, or JSP network environments
Experience troubleshooting, configuring, upgrading, and monitoring F5 load balancers
Experience with network management and analysis tools like SNMP probes, NetScout, SolarWinds, etc.
Expertise in managing Cisco and Juniper routers and switches
Proficiency in network security, SDN, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NTP, etc.
Strong understanding of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediation
Scripting skills for automating administrative tasks
Preferred Qualifications
F5 network certification
Experience with Remedy ITSM, server operating systems (Linux, Windows, UNIX), and Visio for network topology documentation
Experience working on proposals and supporting teleworkers and remote access technologies
