Milestone is seeking a mid-level Data Center Technician to apply their technical skills in a fast-paced and complex environment. Having an extensive working knowledge of server hardware, data center infrastructure and the desire to participate in projects happening in the data centers and data rooms is crucial to this role. Work with client teams to perform data center repairs and technician duties such as provisioning, repairs, decommissioning, moves, troubleshooting, shipping, and inventory management. Help ensure operational readiness of hardware by consistently offering detailed, ongoing feedback. This person should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and flexibility will be key to their success. The candidate should also have working knowledge and experience in several of the following core areas: Networking, Programming/Scripting, Hardware and OS repair.

How You Will Make An Impact:

Work within the clients ticketing system and SLA’s in support of the health of the clients server fleet

In-depth usage of command-line tools and techniques, both Linux and client-specific.

Perform root cause analysis of complex technical issues and drive resolution.

Hardware installation, rack and stack, cabling, provisioning, and decommission.

Coordinate with internal Data Center teams on dependent tasks (e.g. Network configuration on a rack that is needed for a new server)

Responsible for assisting with projects (new capacity, as well as retrofits) and repairs throughout the data center, including partnering with cross functional teams to achieve success

Understand and debug hardware, and Linux and Windows OS related issues using command-line tools and techniques

Rack integration

Device/System configuration and flashing firmware

System troubleshooting with remote engineers

Hardware diagnosis and/or repairs - Familiarity with server hardware/configurations, oob (ipmi/idrac), part swaps, isolating failed components

Document installation, repair procedures, and rack layouts

Provide feedback for HW troubleshooting, testing, and installation

Validate repair documentation for hardware and configurations

Support on-site vendor visits by escorting and assistance with internal tools

Asset/Inventory Management and performing audits - Ex: mac address updates

Equipment support RMA

Assist in the standardization of hardware for production, tooling, and automation

Assist in the development of hardware requirements and specifications assist with projects (new capacity, as well as retrofits) and repairs throughout DC

Other tasks as required to support the service on a local basis

Organization of data-halls

What You Need To Succeed:

E xtensive understanding of PC / server hardware

Familiarity with Datacenter standards and hardware

Proficiency on the Linux command line with common UNIX tools

Minimum 1 year of experience with Linux system administration, network administration

Driven, self-motivated work ethic - ability to work independently

Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to constant change

Focused, detail oriented, able to manage and analyze technical data from multiple sources

Ability to dynamically switch between people-oriented and technically-oriented mindsets

Efficient written and verbal communication skills

Optional: Knowledge of OCP hardware

Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
