Adjunct Faculty - Economics
Part‑time faculty are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in Economics to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may be delivered face‑to‑face, remote, or online.
Duties
Teach specific classes in Economics.
Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
Maintain current competence in Economics through continuing education.
Be available to assist the agency or state government during emergency declarations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule Varies according to class schedules.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Economics or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Economics.
Must reside in the DMV area (DC, VA, MD).
Additional Considerations
Prior experience teaching in higher education.
Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying proficiency levels.
KSA's
Ability to teach in‑person and remote‑synchronous courses.
Ability to teach day, evening, weekends or a combination of these.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
Willingness or ability to include undergraduate students in academic research in Economics.
Ability to complete Hybrid Teaching Certification (provided by NOVA).
Ability to use instructional technology.
