Telecommunications Technician 1 - Hiring Event - Charleston, SC with Security Clearance

Responsibilities
Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools safely, along with adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
Survey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber cables, both active and passive components using electronic devices.
Sketch rack, floor, and wall elevations.
Terminate, test, and troubleshoot horizontal copper (Cat 5, Cat 6).
Install various types of low‑voltage cabling.
Understand, inspect, terminate, test and troubleshoot ISP/OSP telecommunications systems (fiber optics, Category 5, 6, 6A, and associated equipment), including:
Various pathways and cable tray
Various cabinets and racks
Various telecommunications devices, prefabricated components, and assemblies
Telecommunications grounding systems
Lead the installation of cable from telecommunications rooms (TR) to work area outlets (WAO) while following directions and ensuring cables are installed methodically and arranged in proper bundles at TR for ease of dressing and termination.
Provide a full set of tools prior to the first day of employment.
Label and test horizontal cable as required.
Perform quality assurance checks of the team's work to ensure cable installation is performed within all applicable requirements.
Maintain a clean working environment and participate in daily job site cleanup.
Secure company tools and materials daily.
Install backbone and riser cable (copper and fiber), plywood and racks, cable trays (TC, MDF, IDF), OSP and ISP, along with site grounding.
Be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, including domestic and/or international travel.
Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience in telecommunications, overseeing and installing OSP and ISP copper, CCTV, distributed antenna systems, fiber optic, and structured cabling within diverse construction industries.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be 18 years of age with reliable transportation to and from the job site.
Experience and knowledge of telecommunications installation in complex markets, including federal and government facilities, healthcare/hospitals, commercial buildings, and mission‑critical facilities.
Must pass a basic telecommunications knowledge test.
Demonstrated experience and ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
Strong communication, time‑management, and organizational skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
Consistently report to work on time and work well with others to accomplish a common goal while maintaining a safe work environment.
Wear long pants and a shirt that covers shoulders by at least six inches (not provided by the company).
Provide basic tools from the provided tool list prior to the first day of employment.
This position is subject to an additional customer drug screening and background check.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Desired qualifications include BICSI technician credential, manufacturer certifications and/or fiber certification, and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Abilities The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform tasks such as loading and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing it.
Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
