Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing contract and procurement law reviews and advice, to oversee contract and fiscal law functions for all JBSA, and to provide direct government procurement and fiscal law advice for 502 Air Base Wing (ABW), JBSA‑Ft Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, and JBSA‑Randolph Air Force Base. Open & closing dates: 12/19/2025 to 01/09/2026. Salary: $126,361 to $164,268 per year (GS‑14). Location: Fort Sam Houston, TX. Remote job: No telework eligible. Travel Required: Occasional travel expected. Relocation expenses reimbursed if applicable. Duties

Incumbent oversees and advises on contracts and revises documentation as necessary, entered into in support of JBSA, for legal sufficiency, including substantive advice on terms and comprehensive review and analysis of statements of work, amendments, modifications, and all other supporting documentation, including direct contract law support for 502 ABW, JBSA‑Ft Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, and Randolph Air Force Base. Performs work direction responsibilities. Supervises and provides guidance and direction to 1‑3 junior attorneys whose duties require training in the area of contract law. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is required. If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. PCS recipients may be required to complete a CONUS agreement. Males must be registered for Selective Service. Attorney appointments are subject to a one‑year probationary period. Candidates need not have active duty service or veterans’ preference. All qualified candidates who meet the recruitment assessment criteria will be referred to the selecting official. Employee must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth. Employee must adhere to the Rules of Professional Conduct. Employee may be required to work overtime. Employee may be required to travel for temporary duty away from home station. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance as a condition of employment. Qualifications

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: You must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and hold a first professional law degree (LLB or JD). At the time of application, provide proof dated within four months that you are in “active” status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. Professional legal experience in excess of three (3) years that commensurate with the position’s duties and responsibilities. Expert knowledge of federal procurement law, including FAR and related directives. Skill in recognizing and analyzing key legal issues and applying well‑reasoned analysis to reach clear, concise conclusions. Ability to supervise, teach, and guide less experienced attorneys and staff. Ability to review and concisely convey legal issues to non‑legal personnel. Research, analyze complex factual situations, and prepare legal opinions. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to prepare cases for trial or quasi‑judicial proceedings. Part‑time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid or part‑time work. Clearly identify duties and responsibilities and total hours per week. Education

Must be a graduate of an ABA‑accredited law school, currently licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing with a bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction throughout employment. Benefits
