Offer Description Project title:

"Mechanochemical strategies and concepts for preparation of previously inaccessible azananographenes"

As part of a research project focused on developing new synthetic methods for N‑doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (aza‑PAHs), we are seeking a PhD candidate with an interest in modern organic synthesis, mechanochemistry, and photophysical studies of electron‑deficient organic materials. The project centers on the construction of novel heteroaromatic PHA analogues that are relevant to the development of photonics, molecular electronics, and light‑emitting materials, including potential NIR‑OLED emitters.

The responsibilities within the project will include:

Design and synthesis of new N‑doped polycyclic aromatic systems, involving the preparation of suitable polyphenyl precursors followed by their planarization and cyclodehydrogenation using mechanochemical techniques. This approach will enable access to structures that are difficult or impossible to obtain by conventional solution‑based methods.

Characterization of the obtained materials, including structural analysis, optical and photophysical measurements, as well as investigation of how nitrogen doping influences the electronic and emissive properties of the compounds.

Documentation and analysis of research results, preparation of reports and materials for scientific publications, and active participation in seminars and collaborative work within the research team.

We are an open and inclusive employer – we encourage applications from all individuals, regardless of gender, origin, nationality, or minority background.

A prerequisite for qualifying for the project is the status of being a PhD student at a Doctoral School. Individuals who do not currently hold this status are required to apply for admission to the
