Qualified Production and Development provides custom machining and manufacturing services, serving the semi‑conductor, life science and other industries. We have 2 facility locations, both in Oregon. Our Hillsboro location provides contract manufacturing services for prototyping, machining and assembly with cleanroom capabilities. Our Cornelius facility provides precision sheet metal manufacturing, rounding out our ability to provide best in class integration services to our customer base.
INVENTORY SPECIALIST III POSITION SNAPSHOT Under general supervision, the Inventory Specialist III supports manufacturing operations by managing accurate inventory levels and overseeing the full lifecycle of international and domestic shipments. This role is responsible for picking and preparing export orders, creating and verifying all required export documentation, coordinating with freight forwarders and carriers, and ensuring compliance with HTS classifications, ECCN controls, and relevant export regulations. The position also handles daily shipping and receiving activities, maintains precise ERP inventory records, performs cycle counts, and helps ensure parts, materials, and finished goods are organized, traceable, and ready to meet production and customer delivery schedules.
This position is part of our Inventory team that provides company‑wide service and support. Generally, our Inventory Specialists are assigned to a specific location, but may be assigned to other locations as needed.
WHAT THE INVENTORY SPECIALIST III WILL BE DOING Shipping and Receiving
Receive, store, load, unload, pack and ship materials and product according to specified procedures
Monitor packaging supplies and order when necessary
Operate machinery such as forklift and/or pallet jack.
May occasionally be requested to drive between QPD facilities (Hillsboro and Cornelius)
Focus on quality product.
Maintain safe working practices.
Inventory
While seated at desk, utilize computer monitor, keyboard, mouse and printer to input data, and print documents. Some documents require handwritten notes.
Utilize, optimize and document warehouse management best practices.
Maintain accurate inventory counts and perform cycle counts.
Ensure quality assurance processes and procedures are followed.
Stage materials within designated areas using forklift and/or pallet jack.
Track and perform root cause analysis on inventory adjustments.
Export
Prepare export orders by pulling, verifying, and staging parts according to export requirements, ensuring correct quantities, part numbers, and packaging specifications.
Create, review, and maintain all required export documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, and Shipper's Letters of Instruction.
Prepare and submit Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings through AESDirect when required, ensuring accuracy of HTS codes, ECCN classifications, and shipment values.
Coordinate daily with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to arrange pickups, confirm booking details, resolve documentation questions, and track shipments through delivery.
Ensure all export shipments comply with ITAR regulations, restricted party screening, and company compliance processes, escalating issues when necessary.
Verify export packaging meets international standards, including labeling, weight limits, and protective materials appropriate for the parts being shipped.
Follow all safety requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
Day shift, Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
Occasional overtime as needed.
INVENTORY SPECIALIST III MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
10+ years in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on shipping, receiving and inventory and export.
High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system.
2-5+ years experience preparing and reviewing export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading (air, ocean and ground), certificates of origin, shipper's letter of instruction (SLI), export declarations (EEI filings).
Strong knowledge of export compliance requirements such as HTS classifications for manufactured parts, ECCN determination and screening, ITAR regulations and documentation, and restricted party screening.
Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, customs brokers and carriers to ensure all export documentation is accurate and complete.
Knowledge of proper export labeling, packaging and documentation standards for international shipments, including Incoterms and country-specific requirements.
Experience maintaining accurate export records in accordance with regulatory retention timelines.
Experience maintaining accurate export records in accordance with regulatory retention timelines.
Demonstrated ability to pay strong attention to detail.
Experience using MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
General math knowledge including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals accurately.
Good organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks on time, in a fast paced, on time environment.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently follow instructions and processes.
Ability to effectively assess a variety of variables in a unclear or nonstandard situations and make practical decisions with good judgment.
Flexible with the ability to learn and change as needed.
Ability to communicate and interact professional and effectively at all levels of the company, customers or vendors.
Lift up to 20 lbs. frequently.
Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack.
A valid driver's license, current insurance and ability to drive occasionally.
