The World Science Festival (WSF) seeks a results-driven
Finance Manager
who will be responsible for the accounting and finance functions. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, the Finance Manager is responsible for the general ledger and provides oversight of all accounting, finance and reporting activities. She/he manages the day-to-day operations of the finance department, overseeing the functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, and is cross-trained in all areas. Working closely with the Director of Finance & Administration, the Finance Manager prepares and analyzes reports for management. This is an in‑office role.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Director to develop, assess, and continuously improve systems and processes to achieve greater efficiencies and improve internal controls
Work closely with the Director to maintain the organization’s fiscal health by assisting in the preparation of comprehensive reports, such as statement of cash flows, statement of activities, statement of financial position, and statement of functional expense— including variance analyses and the oversight of restricted/unrestricted fund account activity
Coordinate the annual audit process and implement changes based on auditor recommendations, including assistance with preparation of 990s and the Foundation’s annual financial statements
Review and prepare general journal entries, maintain general ledger, account reconciliations and analyses
Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
Contribute to budget and long-range financial plan development and analysis
Enter budget data into QuickBooks program for annual projection and next year budget development
Monitor budget / performance throughout the year for major leases and license agreements
Own the accounts payable and receivable processes; including the review, processing and class coding of bills, check payments, deposits and credit card transactions, ensuring the accurate and appropriate coding and approval of all revenue to their appropriate accounts, including unrestricted, temporarily restricted and permanently restricted funds
Provide grants administration support with reporting, grant tracking, forecasting, program allocation monitoring, restricted funds and other reporting as needed by management and/or funders
Manage the Foundation’s payroll process – including vendor relationships, overseeing the timesheets submission approvals and processing in ADP, unemployment and other employee benefit programs and analysis as needed.
Oversee office admin tasks
Ad hoc business reporting and support as required
Qualifications And Special Requirements
Minimum 5 years of financial experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
Strong attention to detail.
Financial modeling skills.
Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex financial issues.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to clearly link financial results to operation performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work cross functionally.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, perform in a fast‑paced environment & respond quickly to situational needs as they arise.
Proficient use of financial systems and analysis tools including Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.

Salary and Benefits The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annually, depending upon experience. WSF offers a comprehensive package of benefits.
