Licensed Therapist, Full‑time Position Minutes away from Orlando, La Amistad Behavioral Health Services is located in quiet, residential areas of Maitland and Winter Park, Florida. We treat individuals ranging from adolescents to adults, focusing on dual‑licensed mental health and substance use services that include residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Our adolescent program serves ages 12–17, helping establish healthy behaviors and facilitating a successful transition back into family, home, school, and community. Responsibilities Therapists conduct therapeutic services for residents, collaborating daily with psychiatrists and the entire treatment team. They provide counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups, interview clients, develop comprehensive psychological histories, assess therapeutic needs, create treatment objectives, and prepare weekly treatment summaries. Therapists serve as the primary contact for residents and their families throughout treatment, advocate with the multidisciplinary team, and coordinate discharge planning with outside agencies.

Conduct individual and family psychotherapy sessions for residents on their caseload at least one time per week.

Conduct general psychotherapy sessions for residents in the group caseload at least four times per week, demonstrating a high level of clinical skill in assessing needs and delivering appropriate group interventions.

Conduct specialized groups as assigned, based on education, training, and experience.

Establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine client readiness for treatment and change, and analyze data to develop treatment recommendations and priorities.

Coordinate with the treatment team, family, and residents in the family caseload to implement discharge planning.

Apply understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses, recognize associated behaviors, and use proper intervention techniques.

Maintain documentation as required by facility policy.

Evaluate and demonstrate age‑specific behaviors, motor skills, and psychological norms, adjusting approach to the patient’s psychosocial development level.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or related field.

Experience: One year of direct clinical experience with family, individual, and group therapy involving children and/or adolescents. Specialized training in areas such as abuse, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy, and relaxation therapy is required. Knowledge of human development across the lifespan is essential.

License/Certification: Current Florida state license such as LCSW, LMFT, LMFTI, LMHC, or LMHCI.

Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for documenting assessments, treatment planning, and interventions; effective communication with interdisciplinary team members, managed care representatives, patients, families, and residents.

Therapeutic Knowledge: Understanding of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques within diverse cultural, social, economic, and role contexts.

Clinical Skills: Ability to accurately assess treatment dynamics and develop effective strategies within the overall treatment plan.

Physical Requirements: Minimal; may require response to crisis situations.
