La Amistad Behavioral Health Services is located minutes away from Orlando, in quiet residential areas in Maitland and Winter Park, Florida. We treat individuals ranging from adolescents to adults.

We provide a confidential, structured program of support and therapy that emphasizes building healthy relationships, facilitating personal growth, and teaching coping skills. We are dual licensed for mental health and substance use treatment, providing residential treatment, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services.

Our adolescent program treats ages 12 through 17, helping re-establish healthy behavior while facilitating a successful transition back into the family, home, school, and community.

Licensed Therapist, full‑time position – Competitive Salary!

Therapists are responsible for conducting therapeutic services for residents of La Amistad Behavioral Health Services, working closely and collaboratively with our team of psychiatrists on a daily basis.

Therapists provide counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups, interview and develop the psychological history, assess the therapeutic needs, and develop appropriate treatment objectives and weekly treatment summaries. Therapists act as the resident’s and family’s primary contact during the resident’s stay within the program and as an advocate with the treatment team. Therapists liaison with outside agencies and individuals to develop and coordinate discharge planning with the treatment team and families.

Qualifications

Conduct individual and family psychotherapy sessions for residents on their caseload at least once per week.

Conduct general psychotherapy sessions for residents’ in‑group caseload at least four times per week. Demonstrate a high level of clinical skill in assessing the clinical needs, determining appropriate group interventions, and conducting the group in accordance with these needs.

Conduct specialized groups as assigned based on education, training, and experience.

Establish rapport, systematically gather data, determine client readiness for treatment and change, analyze and interpret relevant data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities.

Coordinate with the treatment team, family, and residents in family caseload and implement discharge planning.

Have an understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses and recognize associated behaviors, using proper intervention techniques for common psychiatric diagnoses.

Documentation as required by facility policy.

Evaluate and demonstrate age‑specific behaviors, motor skills, and psychological norms; recognize patient level of psychosocial development and modify approach accordingly.

Job Requirements

Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or related field.

Experience: One year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual, and group therapy with children and/or adolescents; specialized issue or modality training as specified.

License/Certification: Current license in Florida (LCSW, LMFT, LMFTI, LMHC, or LMHCI).

Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills related to documentation, assessment, treatment planning, and interventions.

Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques, including cultural and socio‑economic considerations.

Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics and develop effective strategies.

Physical Requirements: Minimal; may require response to crisis intervention.
