Person Specification Knowledge and Experience
Has a minimum of 2 years practice working in a safeguarding role with responsibility for giving advice and support to health professionals
Advanced knowledge of safeguarding legislative frameworks for children
Experience and advanced knowledge of managing complex safeguarding concerns in a multiagency context, for example domestic abuse, neglect, child exploitation
Experience of quality improvement approaches
Experience of the development and delivery of training content
Experience of assessment of risk and information sharing for statutory and non‑statutory processes in safeguarding children. For example, strategy discussions and ICPC, MARAC & MASH
Excellent knowledge of contemporary safeguarding issues for children and families
Experience of line managing staff
Experience of/ participation in, statutory review processes. For example, Rapid Reviews and Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews
Experience of providing safeguarding supervision
Skills and Abilities
Ability to build professional relationships with multi‑agency colleagues
Ability to support staff to develop skills and knowledge in safeguarding
Ability to analyse patient information and recognise risks to the child(ren)
Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive and caring approach
Excellent presentation skills – verbal and written

Post registration education to master’s level / or working towards, or equivalent learning in safeguarding
Supervision and/or training qualification
