About the Role The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Troy University invites applications for a post‑doctoral position in Astronomy/Astrophysics. The selected candidate will be working with a distributed telescope platform to analyze images of satellites, derive orbital observations, and develop calibration software to optimize calculations. The work will include conducting a survey of relevant open‑source tools and libraries and implementing algorithms. The candidate has access to real‑time images of different orbital objects and gets a chance to do a deep dive into the current state‑of‑the‑art for extracting information from astrometric images.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics/Physics specializing in orbital dynamics.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties?
