Job Summary The Department of Teaching and Leading in the College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with a background in Mathematics Education (or a closely related field) for a full‑time, non‑tenure track position to shape the future of pre‑service and in‑service teacher candidates. The expected start date is August 2026.
Responsibilities
Teaching
– 80% of the role. The candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on teaching mathematics to PK‑12 students, expected to teach a 4‑4 load both online and on campus.
Research
– 10%. The candidate will establish or continue a robust research agenda, fostering a national or international presence, and will employ quantitative, qualitative, or mixed‑methods techniques for rigorous scholarship in education.
Service
– 10%. The candidate is expected to provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have earned their terminal degree from an accredited university in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching and Learning, OR a related educational field, and possess a rigorous research line.
ABD candidates are encouraged if they will graduate in summer 2026.
Assistant Professor: Early‑level career faculty member.
Associate Professor: Mid‑level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent experience.
All USG institution requirements: compliance with SACSCOC accreditation, evidence of teaching, scholarly activity, and other duties, plus personal qualities assessed through interview and references.
Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is academic‑year based, typically from August through May. Full‑time commitment is 1.0 FTE.
Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements for both ranks and is subject to availability of funds.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Employees employed for more than six months may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.
