role. The University is a multi‑campus, baccalaureate and graduate‑degree public institution located in Macon, GA. MGA has five campuses, 8,400 students, and six academic schools, including a flagship aviation program that supports the mission to educate lifelong learners. Job Summary
This position coordinates and performs a wide variety of administrative, secretarial and program support activities on behalf of the Department of Natural Sciences. Responsibilities
Purchasing/Procurement/Maintenance (35%)
– Purchase laboratory supplies and equipment; maintain purchase card requests; coordinate maintenance and repair of lab and office equipment; maintain office supply inventory. Internal & External Communications (30%)
– Serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with other offices, vendors and external institutions; organize and facilitate meetings, conferences and special events; prepare memoranda, letters, email and reports; assist in registering students; attend meetings and record minutes; sort and distribute mail. Data/Scheduling (35%)
– Enter courses in Banner; assign classroom and lab space; maintain departmental records and databases; monitor accounting activities (grant monies, lab fees, etc.); maintain Chair’s calendar and required budget records; assign advisors to students; supervise student workers as needed. Perform related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Education
– High‑school level education or specialized training in a relevant field. Experience
– One to two years of experience in a similar administrative support role or completed apprenticeship/internship. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
– Database management; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication; knowledge of modern office practices, policies and procedures; proficiency with computers and office equipment; prioritizing and organizing work. Equal Employment Opportunity
