Coast Electric is currently seeking a Billing Analyst to provide accurate and courteous service to our members by auditing and adjusting bills, answering billing inquiries, and providing support to branch offices.

Job Responsibilities

The Billing Analyst receives and enters meter readings, assists members with billing complaints or issues, and makes billing adjustments on residential, demand, and commercial accounts.

Answers questions about products, programs and services offered by Coast Electric and CoastConnect.

Performs audits on residential and commercial accounts, investigates usage outside normal range, and makes demand reading adjustments.

Requests meter readings for all transfers, dispatches to correct folder, processes final readings on disconnects and sends demand for disconnect through command center.

Notes changes in service such as transfers, reconnections, disconnections, etc., through command center.

Processes work requests sent through Work Management to the billing department.

Processes meter orders for Hancock, Pearl River, and Harrison counties; ties in security lights and underground charges with work orders; processes contracts for minimum bills when required.

Sorts service orders that can be completed using command center or dispatching Field Service Representatives.

Monitors collections, notes deposits, adds charges to accounts for non-payment, and ensures member service representatives have updated information when quoting reconnection amounts.

Processes returned items (EFT, NSF, credit cards, e‑checks) by identifying account, charging back payment, sending service order for disconnect, and mailing correspondence regarding NSF checks.

Assists with reviewing, monitoring, and processing adjustments for pre‑paid accounts.

Processes electronic funds transfers after each billing, wires EFTs to the bank.

Corresponds with members concerning usage inquiries, account breakdowns, schedule daily billing, processes CoastConnect fiber adjustments, refunds of deposits, additional deposits, tax information, and customer contact letters.

Processes refunds due on closed accounts and computes bills for large commercial accounts.

Provides assistance and support to branch offices, servicemen, meter readers, and maintains member records by electronic filing.

Participates in safety and other Coast Electric and/or CoastConnect meetings and attends the member annual meeting.

Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as requested.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least one year of experience in customer service or billing.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to handle unpleasant or angry customers.

Ability to work in a group or team setting.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, records and database management.

Knowledge of the English language structure, composition, grammar, and spelling.

Strict confidentiality of various types of information.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry, manipulation, formatting, and creating worksheets, charts, and graphs.

Experience using databases to manage large amounts of information, create and edit simple databases, retrieve records, and produce reports.

Ability to work independently, manage own time, and maintain a professional manner.

Active listening skills, with the ability to give full attention, understand, and ask questions appropriately.

Logical reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches.

Mathematical skills to solve problems.
