Position Overview

This role provides part‑time leadership and operational support across accounting and financial management functions. The position ensures sound financial practices, accurate reporting, and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards, as well as internal policies and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support oversight of accounting operations to ensure accurate financial management and compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Review and monitor core accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with updates and organization of the chart of accounts.
  • Review, analyze, and approve journal entries related to cash activity, receivables, payroll, accruals, and other routine accounting transactions.
  • Support review and authorization of accounts payable processing.
  • Monitor and approve transactions from development or advancement systems prior to posting to the general ledger.
  • Prepare and reconcile retirement plan accounts, including employer-sponsored plans.
  • Execute transfers of invested funds in alignment with governing body approvals and leadership direction.
  • Develop periodic financial statements and ad hoc financial reports for leadership and committees as requested.
  • Provide support in preparing financial materials for board or finance committee review.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for executive leadership.
  • Compile detailed reports related to endowment activity, including contributions, investment performance, and donor activity.
  • Analyze activity in restricted and designated funds and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Maintain detailed subsidiary schedules and supporting financial records.
  • Support the coordination and execution of annual financial audits and related retirement plan audits.
  • Assist with preparation of annual financial statements for affiliated entities and trusts.
  • Provide support with regulatory filings, including nonprofit information returns, under leadership direction.
  • Track, review, and approve investment-related activity, including gains, losses, and fund transfers.
  • Prepare summaries and disclosures related to endowment and investment activity for annual reporting.
  • Perform additional financial and accounting duties as assigned.
