AP Professionals is working exclusively with a well‑known nonprofit, local organization in search of an part‑time (30 hours a week) Senior Accountant due to retirement. Working under the direction of the Director of Finance, this role ensures accurate financial records, effective internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including cash receipts, disbursements, ACH, and community transfers.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records.
- Assist with year‑end close, audits, and record retention.
Financial Reporting & Budget Support
- Prepare monthly internal financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Assist with semi‑annual financial statements.
- Support annual operating and capital budget preparation.
Cash Management & Banking
- Monitor cash flow and reconcile operating, payroll, and designated fund accounts.
- Process authorized banking transactions and maintain designated fund ledgers.
- Process bi‑weekly payroll, review timecards, and maintain employee payroll records.
- Complete payroll‑related reconciliations and benefit contributions (403B, HSA, FICA).
- Coordinate payroll updates with HR.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Follow and support internal control procedures and policy updates.
- Prepare regulatory filings including 1099/1096, 1094‑C, sales tax, payroll tax, and OSHA reporting.
- Maintain audit and compliance documentation.
Designated Funds & Support
- Track and report on designated and donor‑restricted funds.
- Serve as a financial resource to departments, local communities, and committees.
- Assist members with Medicare enrollment and Medicaid recertification.
- Liaise with auditors, advisors, and financial institutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, including general ledger, reporting, and payroll.
- Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems, Excel, and online banking.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
