Salary and benefits
- Police Officer Salary: $119,875 - $170,417/year (minimum includes 5.38% holiday pay and $1,800 uniform allowance; maximum includes uniform allowance, holiday, bachelor degree, senior officer III and bilingual pays)
- Additional Compensation and Other Benefits:
- Hiring Incentive - $20,000
- Holiday Pay - 5.38%
- Educational Incentive - 2.5% for Associate's Degree and 5% for Bachelor's Degree
- Senior Officer Program - 2.5-11% (depends on qualifications)
- Bilingual Premium - 2.5%
- Clothing Allowance - $1,800/year
- Tuition Reimbursement - $2,000/year
- Graveyard shift differential - $520/month

Responsibilities
As a Police Officer, your primary responsibility is to maintain peace and enforce federal, state, and municipal laws, while delivering professional police services to the community.
Qualifications
- Education: Successful completion of the Police Academy is required. An A.A./A.S. degree is desirable. Military service and relevant training may also be considered.
- Experience: Successful completion of probation as a sworn law enforcement officer in the State of California.
- License or Certificate: Possession of, or eligibility for, the California POST Basic Certificate is required. Out-of-state Peace Officers applying for this position must provide proof of successful completion of the Basic POST Course Waiver process with their application.
- Other:
- Police Officer candidates must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
- Must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation and meet POST job dimension criteria as recommended.
- Spanish bilingual skills are highly desirable.
- Incumbents must successfully complete the Vacaville Police Department Field Training Program as a condition of continued employment.
