About The Job

MedStar Health is looking for a Clinical Social Worker to provide direct services to patients, including hospitalization, illness, and post-hospital planning. The incumbent offers consultative, leadership, and teaching functions for patients, families, and the community, adhering to the NASW Code of Ethics and all applicable laws and MedStar policies.

Primary Duties

• Provide clinical social work services to identified patients and families, including outpatient and inpatient services, individual and group counseling regarding the impact of illness and hospitalization.
• Collaborate with other health care professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team. Facilitate communication regarding psychosocial issues of patients and families to health care teams through medical record documentation, consultation, and meetings.
• Function as a coordinating link between patient, family, hospital, and community resources to assure continuity of care. Represent the social work perspective on hospital committees and community organizations.
• Participate in orientation, training, and education programs for students, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals as required.
• Collaborate with clinicians to develop new programs that enhance services for oncology and other patient populations, including discharge planning and placement coordination.
• Assume backup, on‑call responsibilities, committee work, research, QA/QI, and other duties as appropriate, and may provide supervision to LGSW‑level social workers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited training program.
• 3‑4 years of experience, with at least 2 years in acute or chronic inpatient settings.
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) D.C. license.

Compensation

USD $74,214.00 – USD $134,596.00 per year.
