University Career Services is hiring two
Career Development Specialist
positions in the Education, Health Science (Pre‑Health), Human Services, and Government, Pre‑Law, Public Administration clusters. This role develops and administers career programming and resources for students and alumni, establishes internship programs, and builds placement opportunities with major employers. Responsibilities
Develops and implements programming to educate students about career development and job search activities. Conducts development training programs to small and large groups of students and alumni. Contacts potential employers to promote placement activities for the college. Serves as liaison between employers, faculty, administrators, and alumni to advance career opportunities. Advises and counsels students regarding career selection, job searches, internships, and graduate/professional school pathways. Oversees the development of new resources and manages projects and events relevant to the Career Clusters. Performs other job‑related duties as assigned. Additional Duties
Facilitate workshops covering career exploration, interviewing, networking, job/internship search techniques, and graduate/professional school preparation. Analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate them into coaching sessions. Provide career development support and training to the Peer Career Advising team. Market and promote UCS services such as Cougar Pathway, Focus 2, Career Assessments, VMock Smart Resume, and CareerShift to engage students and alumni. Manage and evaluate career coaching services and programs; prepare monthly status reports and recommend improvements. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and academic advising liaisons within academic affairs, student affairs, and enrollment services. Maintain knowledge of labor market trends, salary resources, and participate in professional associations. Stay abreast of relevant career management technology platforms such as Symplicity, Handshake, etc. Qualifications
Master’s degree and at least one year of directly job‑related experience. Advanced knowledge of student development principles and practices. Experience with career coaching, advising, human services, training and development, and project management. Excellent collaboration, communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Strong project management and program coordination abilities. Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, MS Teams, and Canva. Experience in marketing, communications, or outreach to diverse student populations. Legal & Diversity Statement
