Medical Technologist I – Rex Transfusion Services
Join UNC Health as a Medical Technologist I in the Rex Transfusion Services department. This role supports clinical laboratory activities in the UNC Health Care System.
Schedule Night shift 9:00 pm – 7:30 am every other Thursday‑Wednesday night.
Responsibilities
Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
Participate in team projects and special assignments.
Teach clinical laboratory science students, pathology residents, and train new employees; serve as a technical resource.
Perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests; observe tests and provide data.
Prepare specimens, reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
Report results to healthcare providers; consult with providers about test results.
Review test results to ensure accurate reporting and timely error correction.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s of Science degree.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Must obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
Professional Experience Requirements
No prior experience required.
