Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design Engineer
Aloe Semiconductor, Inc., an innovator in silicon photonics technology, is seeking a highly motivated Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will be responsible for the design, simulation, testing, and analysis of high-performance photonic integrated circuits for next-generation, ultra-high-speed optical communication systems. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a strong theoretical foundation who is eager to grow in a fast-paced startup environment. Key Responsibilities Design and optimize high-performance photonic integrated circuits for optical communications Perform electromagnetic and photonic simulations to evaluate and refine PIC designs Develop and execute laboratory test plans to characterize PIC performance Analyze experimental data and correlate results with simulations Collaborate with fabrication partners and internal stakeholders to iterate designs Contribute to continuous improvement of design and test methodologies Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field Strong foundation in electromagnetic wave theory Minimum of 2 years of experience designing photonic integrated circuits Hands‑on experience testing and characterizing PICs in a laboratory environment Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills Programming experience in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and version control systems Preferred Qualifications Experience with semiconductor fabrication processes Strong understanding of optical communication systems Knowledge of intensity‑modulated direct‑detect (IM‑DD) and coherent communication systems Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively Prior industry and product development experience Benefits Personal and sick leave Health and dental insurance Why Join Aloe Semiconductor Aloe Semiconductor is a rapidly growing startup offering significant opportunities for professional growth, learning, and technical impact.
