Department ICE | PeriopSvc Main Pre-Op
Summary of Job Duties The PSA works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse(s) (R.N.) and performs tasks and duties that do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention. The PSA must pass the required competencies. The PSA works within the Department of Nursing standards.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED Plus 1 year of Patient Care in a health care setting.
Must be able to lift 100 lbs. to waist height.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
Patient care experience in an acute care setting.
Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
Additional Information Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning, and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment, to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities
Assists patients with direct patient care.
Accepts direction from RN and team members and follows through on delegated patient care activities.
Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with mobility-related activities.
Accurately and promptly documents all patient care tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I & O's per unit and department standards.
Obtains patient report and communicates with RN regarding patient care.
Informs the nurse of patient requests or complaints.
Carries out the Plan of Care for the patient using a Multidisciplinary Approach delegated by the Team Leader.
Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care.
Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems. Serves as a resource to support department members in the performance of duties.
Notifies appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention.
Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
