The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.
We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC / Control Technician Master to install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain advanced HVAC and building automation control systems. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while leading complex projects. This role is critical to ensuring system efficiency, reliability, and optimal performance across commercial and industrial environments.
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
Job Duties:
Diagnose, repair, and optimize HVAC and control systems for the LA Special School District.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and control sequences for the boiler room and various departments around campus.
Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades to ensure that all systems are functional.
Ensure compliance with safety codes and industry standards.
Monitors the buildings automation and control systems on a daily basis three or more times a day.
Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The chosen application will be required to take a probationary appointment.
Location: The HVAC/CONTROL TECHNICIAN MASTER position is located in the Operations Department at the LA Special School District in Baton Rouge, LA.
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday - Friday; unless otherwise specified by the Director of Facilities or the HVAC Control Tech Foreman.
