Summary
Assists the Histology Supervisor, Pathology Technical Operations Manager, and Vice Chair in investigating, developing, and integrating cutting‑edge immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization technologies into the diagnostic clinical laboratory. Serves as the technical lead in the laboratory, providing expertise to streamline and integrate technologies that enhance diagnostic quality and turnaround time. Supports departmental initiatives by validating and designing strategies for new antibody testing and implementation. Functions as the lead immunohistochemistry technologist for all clinical laboratory testing and contributes to research activities as needed. Starting salary is $99,279.
Qualifications License and Certification Requirement
License to practice as a Histotechnologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; and
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnologist (HTL) certification; or
Eligibility for licensure as a Histotechnologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; and
Eligibility for American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnologist (HTL) certification.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Natural Science, Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a related discipline and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in a clinical laboratory conducting advanced immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization staining procedures, to include discovery, testing, and validation of novel antibodies, and troubleshooting of automated IHC platforms; or
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a related discipline and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience in a clinical laboratory conducting advanced immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization staining procedures, to include discovery, testing, and validation of novel antibodies, and troubleshooting of automated IHC platforms.
NOTES
As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the required licensure and certification within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
