Location: University of Southern California, USC Keck School of Medicine
Overview The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full‑time Immunohistochemistry Technician II who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day‑to‑day operations of the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He/she will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of these divisions for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turnaround times.
Specific Job‑Related Duties
Performs high‑complexity testing and advanced histopathology procedures, and staining techniques by accurately identifying the proper control tissues and antibodies to be used.
Offers expertise in all areas of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory to include, but not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Electron microscopy (EM), immunofluorescent (IF), and CISH staining.
Ensures that all required solutions and chemicals are properly prepared, and that automated laboratory equipment is in working order.
Serves as the resource for coordination of research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities in the department.
Develops new Immunohistochemistry (IHC) antibody protocols.
Responsible for Quality Metrics to improve the value of patient care.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: related undergraduate study.
Minimum Certifications: Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification required from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Minimum Experience: 3 years.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Certifications: ASCP issued Immunohistochemistry (QHIC) certification.
Preferred Experience: 5 years.
Compensation Hourly rate range: $38.69 – $49.98.
