Be part of a team that’s committed to service, innovation, and community.**Job Summary**Plans, implements, coordinates and maintains under general supervision an environmental program within a city department or the Office of Environmental Quality.**Job Description****Overview**The Environmental Coordinator I creates, coordinates, facilitates, and maintains environmental research., initiatives, and programs for the City. Engages and communicates with the public, manages community partnerships, conducts presentations and community events, and effectively communicates programs to address environmental issues and impacts.**Essential Functions****1** Develops, creates, coordinates, and promotes various outreach programs to teach and educate the public and community on stormwater, conservation initiatives, waste management, sustainability, and air pollution programs.**2** Schedules, promotes and presents outreach programs on and off site for various age groups within the community; instructs, educates, and facilitates programs on lessening human impact on environment; communicates City programs and partners with the community to create collaboration and focus.**3** Assists, supports, and participates in the development and coordination of an internal audit team for the City's EMS and EPA Consent Decree; provides audits of the EPA Consent Decree, and performing tasks that focus on monitoring and meeting annual mandates for yard waste, litter and floatable, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, pet waste, general pollution and illicit discharges.**4** Monitors, coordinates, and facilitates the placement of brochures and educational information for Center visitors, including themed displays in the Center's library and outdoor kiosks; ensures the appropriate displays for community consumption and education in the Center's library and indoor kiosks.**5** Coordinates and facilitates website and social media content development for the benefit of environmental programs and communications; maintains strong web presence to address and educate citizens in environmental issues and human impact; consistently reviews web presence and social media engagement to remain relevant and interesting.**6** Assesses, develops and implements citywide environmental training initiatives and tracks and analyzes the results of these trainings; attends and conducts scheduled community events, workshops, seminars, and career days.**7** Identifies, determines, and addresses needed areas of change and makes recommendations to improve operations; monitors program success through post-presentation written and telephone evaluations; analyzes operations to identify the need for changes and updates.**8** Provides project management and event planning.**9** Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.**Knowledge and Skills****1** Knowledge of Stormwater, Zero waste, Sustainability Conservation Concepts, and Environmental Management Systems.**2** Knowledge of Federal and State rules, regulations, and standards.**3** Knowledge of public outreach, coordination, and interaction.**4** Ability to manages projects, volunteers, citizen education, and schedules.**5** Ability to develop and coordinate strong website and social media presence.**6** Ability to train, educate, and communicate with citizens and the public.**7** Ability to give advice and provide guidance on environmental management standards for various industries.**8** Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.**9** Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.**Minimum Qualifications:****EDUCATION:*** Bachelor's degree (or higher) in an architectural, engineering, environmental or natural science field.**EXPERIENCE:**Experience in any of the following environmental areas a plus:* ISO 14001 programs* Compliance monitoring, inspection, auditing (water/air quality/climate)* Investigation, remediation, mitigation (water/soil/air/climate)* Water quality (drinking/source) sampling and field analysis* Emission inventory development and reporting* Compliance program development* Sustainability program monitoring, development, planning or implementation* Pollution prevention programs* Modeling and/or development of policies/procedures* Geo-spatial information system (GIS) data analyses* Coordination with state and federal agencies* Permit preparation and/or report writing* Training program planning/implementation* Public presentations and/or coordinating special events involving public participation**EQUIVALENCIES:*** High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of experience in any of the stated areas will qualify.* Associate degree in a specified field plus two (2) years of experience in any of the stated areas will qualify.* Associate degree (or higher) in a non-specified field plus three (3) years of experience in any of the stated areas will qualify.**LICENSES and** **CERTIFICATIONS:*** Valid driver's license with good driving record.* For some positions must obtain a Class D Water license (or higher) from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within the probationary period.\***Salary Range**$55,424.72 - $65,066.17The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.The City of Dallas is one of the largest employers in the DFW Metroplex.
