Position Summary The individual will perform, evaluate, teach and report Human DNA Identity and quality assurance assays, utilizing specialized knowledge, and technical and analytical skills. The role includes DNA/RNA extraction, standard and real‑time PCR, multiplex amplification, genotyping, sequence analyses, next‑generation sequencing, statistical analysis of DNA test results, and expert testimony through depositions and courtroom testimony.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Genetics or related science with coursework in Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Statistics and/or Population Statistics.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of molecular biology procedures, including knowledge of forensic theory, procedures, techniques, statistics and instrumentation.

License:

None required.

Computer Applications:

Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Additional Skills:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to follow strict protocols regarding evidence custody, testing procedures and reporting guidelines.

Comprehensive knowledge of scientific theory to perform and evaluate complex testing and correlate results.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related science; coursework or training in forensic analysis, statistics, and/or population genetics.

Experience:

3 years of molecular biology procedures, with demonstrated knowledge of forensic theory, procedures, techniques, statistics and instrumentation.

License:

None required.

Computer Applications:

Microsoft Outlook.

Additional Skills:

Ability to work as an active team member, report results and issues to a supervisor, and collaborate effectively with other professionals.
