Responsibilities
Prepare for trial and hearings Draft Motions, Pendente Lite applications, Orders to Show Cause, and Appellate Briefs Perform case law research, draft briefs, pleadings, and manage motion practice Engage with clients, and represent clients in court for conferences and oral arguments The attorney must bill at least 80% of the time worked each week Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, and arbitration on behalf of clients Get appropriate documents prepared, such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests and responses Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings Qualifications
2-5 years experience as an associate in matrimonial and family law Completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree, as well as 3-year law degree from an accredited law school Work independently while handling a heavy caseload Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration Member of state and local bar associations in good standing Compensation
