Multicraft Maintenance Technician (with Welding & Fabrication) Position Overview The Multicraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems within the facility. This role ensures that production equipment and building systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, while also supporting custom fabrication and welding needs to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on machinery and facility systems.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

Maintain HVAC, plumbing, and basic building infrastructure as needed.



Electrical & Controls

Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, motors, drives, and PLC-controlled equipment.

Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.

Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.

Production Support

Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Collaborate with production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.

Welding & Fabrication

Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components.

Fabricate, modify, and repair machine parts, guards, brackets, and structural supports.

Operate cutting, grinding, and forming equipment (plasma cutter, torch, press brake, etc.).

Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.

Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets safety and quality standards.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate records of maintenance and fabrication activities in CMMS.

Follow OSHA, NFPA, and company safety guidelines.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, welding, and fabrication.

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fabrication systems.

Skills

Proficiency in welding processes (MIG, TIG, stick).

Ability to fabricate and repair metal components using shop equipment.

Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work in varying conditions (heat, cold, noise, confined spaces).

Stand, bend, and climb for extended periods.
