Pharmacy Customer Service Associate (Walgreens)
Base Pay
$16.15/hr - $18.00/hr
Responsibilities
Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Registers sales on assigned cash register and provides courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
Assists the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Engages customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
Shares customer‑service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
Provides courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
Recommends items for sale and trade‑up or companion items to customers.
Registers customer purchases on assigned cash register, handles cash, returns, refunds, trades, and exchanges, and assists customers in the OTC aisle when possible.
Maintains clean and well merchandised counters and shelves, takes inventory, and keeps accurate records.
Performs duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medication, checking for interactions, and supporting workflow.
Reports prescription errors immediately and adheres to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including calls to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
Assists with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and files claims for overages, shortages, and order errors.
Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
Constructs displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sales merchandise, and performs resets and revisions.
Separates food items, manages product placement and stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out methods.
Operates store systems and equipment.
Provides customer service in the photo area (passport, print, creative machine, etc.).
Assumes web pickup responsibilities, monitoring orders, picking items, and delivering them to customers.
Assists with interior and exterior maintenance, ensuring a clean, neat, and orderly store condition.
Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and completes special assignments as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
Attends training and completes required PPLs, acquires continuing education credits, and maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prior work experience with Walgreens.
Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
Good computer skills.
Knowledge of store inventory control.
PTCB certification.
