Shipping Clerk Job Duties
Preparing shipping documents for freight carriers scheduled for pick-ups by time required.
Properly located and identify all product / pallets pertaining to scheduled shipments based on P.O #’s, Customer names, and shipment pick-up number.
Effectively works with Routing team to ensure all scheduled shipments for the day are ready for pick-up based on time frames.
Effectively uses organization systems and warehouse technology to locate and gather stock for shipments.
Accurately updates shipping log information based on pick-ups and scheduled shipments that have left facility based on time frame and pick-up times.
Effectively close out loads in system, create bar code to effectively close out load for fluid loading when shipping out products.
Matches pick-up paperwork with loading P.O in the system to ensure accuracy for shipments even when rush orders are added to daily shipping log.
Communicates with other department personnel to ensure orders shipping are ready and complete when carriers arrive. Ensure all shipments are not damaged or have any shortages when shipped to customer.
Performs administrative duties like answering phones, responding to emails, updating records, and providing excellent customer service.
Liaises with warehouse supervisors and managers to ensure any delays are addressed prior to carrier arrival for shipments with shortages or issues pending to shipments.
Keeps organized shipping records, including bill of ladings that must be stamped, signed and noted dates, along with quantities of order shipped.
Troubleshoots shipping issues and carrier issues that pop up regularly; works to solve these administrative or organizational problems to increase warehouse efficiencies.
Works well with shipping team to ensure everything is completed for the daily workload and completed to time without delays.
Any other duties that may be designated by supervisor / manager pertaining to the shipping department for added value to the company’s success.
Must be reliable and must be willing to work overtime when needed.
Must work overtime when required
Qualifications Job Requirements
Lift and carry boxes of 35 pounds and heavier occasionally or with help
Stand or sit for long periods of time
Lift, bend, reach, kneel, stoop and twist
Strong communication skills
Detail oriented and able to retain information
Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy
Work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to multi-task and be flexible in a work environment where priorities frequently change
Must be comfortable working in a diverse population
Education and Experience
Able to complete tasks utilizing a computer required
High school diploma / equivalent or above preferred
One year of experience working in a warehousing or environment preferred.
Bilingual Preferred (Spanish)
Less then load (LTL) freight knowledge
