Job Description and Duties Under the supervision of the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the Caltrans Equipment Operator II performs a wide variety of laboring and equipment operation functions necessary to maintain California highways, bridges, landscaping, and roadside rests. Depending on the workload, the incumbent may work under other supervisors and work units. Responsibilities include:
Operating Class A commercial vehicles with a tank vehicle endorsement.
Operating and servicing equipment used in highway maintenance, structural maintenance, emergency service, landscaping, or construction.
Performing duties outlined for the Caltrans Equipment Operator I, Highway Maintenance Worker, or Landscape Maintenance Worker when not operating equipment.
Assisting with other related work as required.
Eligibility may be determined by the Caltrans Equipment Operator II/I exam. Those lacking current eligibility may be required to be on the state examination list.
Working Conditions Location:
51548 Hwy 395, Lee Vining, CA 93541, Mono County
Work may occur in extreme conditions, including heat up to 120°F and cold temperatures down to -15°F. The incumbent will be on a 9/80 schedule with possible night shifts during the winter months and may be required to work overtime during storms, emergencies, or special projects.

Valid Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
Drug screening and background investigation clearance.
