This role is critical to executing preventive maintenance strategies while ensuring full compliance with safety, food safety, and operational standards. You’ll partner closely with operations, environmental health & safety, and quality assurance teams to ensure the plant meets its goals in safety, product quality, equipment reliability, and cost control. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who understands how to maintain complex systems—including automation, utilities, and food processing equipment—while also coaching a team and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing daily guidance, scheduling, and support.
Ensure safe working conditions for all maintenance activities; enforce LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Electrical Safety protocols.
Conduct safety training sessions, drills, and promote a culture of accountability and recognition.
Drive food safety and regulatory compliance in coordination with QA and plant leadership.
Lead the execution of Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs with a focus on OEE‑based performance.
Utilize CMMS and other digital systems for downtime tracking, work orders, and asset history.
Work cross‑functionally with vendors and contractors for routine inspections, equipment repairs, and capital improvements.
Use continuous improvement tools (5S, 5 Whys, Gemba, FMEA, Pareto, etc.) to improve plant reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Support troubleshooting of production line issues, including grinding systems, robotics, PLCs, and VFDs.
Track and improve KPIs: planned vs. unplanned work, labor utilization, PM adherence, cost of maintenance, and breakdown frequency.
Develop training plans to build the team’s technical skills and safety knowledge.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and promote a collaborative, positive team environment.
Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in maintenance within a food manufacturing or USDA‑regulated facility.
Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems (PLCs, VFDs, sensors).
Experience managing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Working knowledge of CMMS systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
Clear understanding of safety, food safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to train, mentor, and hold teams accountable.
Certifications in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
