Summary Works with teachers and students in schools to improve the quality of teaching and student learning in any of the core content areas (reading, language arts, math, science, or social studies).
Essential Duties
Assists teachers and grade level teams with the implementation of the Georgia standards
Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods
Analyzes student and teacher data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness
Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practices
Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies
Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes
Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed
Conducts professional development at the school as needed
Utilizes the coaching cycle to support teacher development
Attends districtwide coach meetings and redelivers essential professional development to teachers
Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment
Participates in periodic professional learning activities
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in a related field Master's Degree preferred
Certification/Licensure For Elementary: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Birth‑Kindergarten, Elementary Education (P‑5), Special Education General Curriculum, or equivalent. For Literacy Coaches LETRS course completion preferred.
For Secondary Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics (4‑8) or Mathematics (6‑12).
For Secondary Literacy: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Reading (4‑8), Middle Grades Language Arts (4‑8), English (6‑12), or Reading Endorsement in addition to a base secondary field (6‑12).
For Secondary Science: Middle Grades Science (4‑8), Science (6‑12), or a related science field (6‑12).
For Secondary Social Science: Middle Grades Social Science (4‑8) or related social science field (6‑12).
Experience Qualifications Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and curriculum-based assessments
Strong desire to work with at‑risk students and developing teachers
Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels
High technological skill level required
Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
Excellent collaboration skills with district and school personnel, the general public, and diverse groups of people
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
