Position Summary:

The HR Generalist will have broad responsibility for working closely with the operations teams and the HR Director to ensure all HR strategies, processes and procedures are fully functional to enable the success of the company. The stores and operations team leaders will look to the HR Generalist as a point person on all payroll and benefits, and should be a strong team participator who takes responsibility for ensuring participation and engagement throughout the organization. The HR Generalist will oversee all aspects of the HR function surrounding benefits and payroll.


The HR Generalist will be a hands-on contributor while having the experience and industry/business knowledge to interpret and execute the company’s Benefits & Payroll functions. The ability to utilize and at times create efficient people processes, encourage use of performance metrics and effectively analyze / report related field data will be critical to ensure timely performance for organization. These initiatives will be supported by strong business acumen and a genuine interest in learning /understanding the business.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities; Essential Functions - Payroll

  • Oversee payroll processing for multiple brands; ensuring you have a thorough understanding of state and federal requirements surrounding pay requirements and pay data
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of outsourced payroll processes and procedures – to include troubleshooting of file feed issues, paycheck error resolution, and post payroll contributions.
  • Ability to generate reports that provide clear direction and maintain the integrity of the employee files.
  • Responsible for the continual assessment of payroll processes and procedures – to include recommendations for improvement to both internal and external individuals
  • Thorough understanding of FLSA, and multiple states payroll laws
  • Ability to lead other projects and initiatives as needed.

Key Responsibilities; Essential Functions – Recruiting and Onboarding

  • Assist store locations with job postings and candidate review
  • Assist store locations with onboarding process, helping employees finalize onboarding, including I9 verification and ensuring timely processing
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Key Responsibilities; Essential Functions - Benefits

  • Administer, implementation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, communication, and administration of benefits and wellness programs.
  • Responsible for leading the successful management and administration of the company’s health and welfare plan(s), retirement plan(s), and other ancillary benefit plans as developed throughout the organization.
  • Report and manage basic Worker’s Compensation and Property claims
  • Other responsibilities as needed

Education, Certifications & Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resources or related field of study
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Experience in employee benefits with proven experience managing benefit programs and Payroll administration for a mid-sized employer
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (AllianceHCM preferred)
  • Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills
  • Digital documentation management
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, xlookups) required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cultures and organizations; strategically focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who can work effectively with little to no direct supervision
  • Demonstrated the ability to work with confidential information and maintain effective confidentiality
