Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Addison, IL

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000
Type of Role: Direct Hire

We have partnered with a long-standing client that is a stable and respected leader in the paper manufacturing industry to help them add a Manufacturing Engineer to their growing team. This is a NEW ROLE created due to sustained business growth and evolving production needs.

The selected candidate will join a collaborative, personable culture led by long-tenured leadership. This role offers substantial professional growth, with a clear path to expand into a larger-scale engineering or leadership position over time. The environment blends hands-on maintenance engineering with continuous process improvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both tactical and strategic work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day manufacturing operations with a focus on equipment reliability, optimization, and uptime.
  • Lead and assist in preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Evaluate existing production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Implement process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and production teams to troubleshoot machinery issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures and maintenance protocols.
  • Participate in capital improvement projects, including equipment upgrades and new machinery integration.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; paper, packaging, or process-based manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on exposure to industrial equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in process optimization, Lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, automation, or machine controls is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and implement improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance, production, and engineering teams.
