We are looking for a dedicated Legal Secretary to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. This Contract to permanent position involves providing comprehensive administrative support to a family law attorney, assisting with case management, and ensuring smooth communication with clients and external parties. Responsibilities:
• Manage and organize case files using MyCase case management software to ensure accurate recordkeeping and accessibility.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, including briefs, contracts, and agreements, while adhering to compliance standards.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain medical records and billing statements for settlement purposes.
• Coordinate with insurance companies to facilitate claims and settlements in auto-collision and personal injury cases.
• Maintain attorney schedules and appointments, ensuring effective time management and prioritization.
• Conduct research on insurance laws and regulations to support case preparation and decision-making.
• Assist in preparing demand letters and managing settlement negotiations.
• Provide administrative support such as answering phone calls, managing correspondence, and maintaining office organization.
• Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to ensure timely completion of case-related tasks.
• Monitor legal billing processes and ensure accuracy in invoicing and payments.
• Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant, preferably in personal injury law.• Proficiency in using case management software such as MyCase.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with insurance law and claims processes is highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and external parties.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• High attention to detail in legal document preparation and case management.
