Job Title: Landscape Construction Estimator Department: Landscape Design Reports To: Vice president of Sales Position Summary:

The Landscape Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for commercial and residential installation projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication with clients and internal teams, and a solid understanding of landscape construction practices. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, designers, and accounting staff to ensure timely, competitive, and precise bidding that supports the company’s growth.

Key Outcomes:

Deliver accurate and complete cost estimates that reflect project scope, materials, and labor requirements.

Ensure labor, material, and overhead costs reflect current market conditions and company standards.

Ensure all estimate data, bid boards, and proposal records are current and properly organized.

Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure clarity from proposal through project handoff.

Support estimating department goals by collaborating with team members and improving process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: Estimating & Bid Preparation

Review architectural and landscape plans to perform accurate quantity takeoffs for planting, irrigation, site preparation, and hardscapes.

Prepare cost estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation for commercial and residential projects.

Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and verify pricing.

Ensuring all estimates reflect current labor burdens, equipment and material cost.

Project Coordination

Work closely with project managers and sales teams to ensure scope alignment and clarity of deliverables.

Maintain accurate and current project data within company estimating software and the bid board.

Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly audit data (M.A.D.) and other reporting as required.

Process & Standards Management

Assist in maintaining standardized estimating procedures and templates.

Ensure all company estimating systems and bid board updates are accurate and timely.

Participate in team reviews to evaluate bid performance and process improvements.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Support other estimators as needed, sharing knowledge of systems and methods.

Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal departments in a professional and courteous manner.

Demonstrate initiative, organization, and accuracy in all estimating activities.

Qualifications:

3–5 years of experience in landscape construction estimating or a related field (e.g., irrigation, installation, or maintenance).

Associate degree in Construction, Horticulture, or related discipline; equivalent experience accepted.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and estimating software (S.A.P., TBS, Timberline, Sage M.B., CAD, etc.).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and drawings.

Occasional visits to job sites may be required.
