Skywire Networks LLC
Duties:
Job Description
Skywire Networks/Xchange Telecom is one of the most active and fastest-growing Internet and Network Service Providers in New York City with more than 2,000 lit buildings, 50 neighborhood hubs and relays, and a near-net footprint exceeding 350,000. We sell Ethernet Private Lines, Internet Services, and hosted voice services to both businesses and residential clients at speeds ranging from 10 MB to 10 GB. Skywire Networks/Xchange Telecom addresses the problem of poor fiber density in NYC in a multitude of ways by leveraging various edge technologies including Fiber and Fixed Wireless Access.
Who We’re Looking For: You’re familiar with NOC practices. You enjoy understanding why something isn’t working, troubleshooting, and mastering technology along the way. You want to work somewhere your ideas matter, where you can grow, and where you’re surrounded by a team committed to reliable networks and a great customer experience.
What You’ll Do:
Use Skywire’s monitoring tools, configs, and documentation to diagnose and resolve customer and network issues.
Work hands-on with OSS, NMS, and BSS platforms that keep a mission critical network running. SolarWinds, SalesForce, ETC.
Provide clear, timely updates to customers and internal teams through tickets, email, and phone.
Configure and support switches, routers, CPE, and other network hardware (multi-vendor favoring Juniper).
Voice systems support
Occasionally join the on-call rotation with other NOC engineers. Overnight hours could be required from time to time.
Troubleshoot customer and carrier issues end-to-end — collaborating with various internal teams and customers.
What You Bring:
Strong communication and customer-facing skills; you can explain issues clearly and help guide customers as needed.
Ability to stay organized and work under shifting priorities and fast-paced timelines.
A working understanding of NOC workflows: escalation paths, incident management, and change processes.
Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, IP addressing, telnet/SSH.
Exposure to wired and wireless networking in enterprise or residential environments.
Experience with RADIUS, DHCP, DNS, and routing protocols is helpful.
Juniper experience is preferred; other vendor backgrounds are welcome.
Quality-driven performance with reliable follow-through on issue
Minimum 5-10 years' experience at NOC engineer
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, computer science, or equivalent NOC or network experience.
JNCIA, CCNA, or equivalent network experience.
Wireless experience is a plus.
Benefits:
