Duties This position resides in the Business & Income Taxes Division of the Department of Revenue. BIT’s auditing technicians perform a variety of duties assigned by management, including conducting simple examinations of various types of tax returns, adjusting tax returns, conducting research, communicating internally and externally, and participating in the appeal process. Auditing technicians also provide support for other unit operations and complex examination activities. The position does not supervise other staff.

Microsoft programs and other database applications

Remote/Telework This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and obtain supervisor approval.
Training Assignment Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Salary Annual: $47,998.00 – $49,710.00 (Telework eligible; full‑time telework not available; schedule must be supervisor approved)
