Position Open: December 29, 2025 Position Close: January 13, 2026 JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Position: Human Resources (HR) Coordinator Salary: $52,020-$58,685 Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) Nashville, TN MDHA employs over 300 staff members, has a budget of $200 million, and houses approximately 30,000 people, primarily through nearly 8,000 Section 8 Vouchers and over 6,800 apartments, which are mainly Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) units, at 39 properties. MDHA is a housing authority, a community development agency, and a redevelopment agency.
Position Summary The HR Coordinator supports and coordinates a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting, learning and development, employee relations, benefits and compensation, records management, and HR compliance activities.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, callers, and residents by providing professional front-desk coverage, gathering accurate information, and providing high-quality customer service and performing other administrative support duties.
Scheduling interviews and supporting hiring managers through the selection process. Administer new hire and separation process, including offers, background checks, 1‑9/E‑Verify, onboarding and orientation, ensuring new employees receive required information, benefits materials, and compliance training.
Maintain and update HRIS and personnel records.
Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, leave options, and general HR questions, escalating complex issues to HR leadership.
Support performance management, training, and employee engagement initiatives by helping schedule sessions, track completion, and coordinate recognition or wellness activities.
Assist with HR compliance efforts, including monitoring required postings, supporting internal audits, and helping ensure HR practices align with employment laws and agency policies.
Draft documents, including employee relations documents.
Education, Experience & Other Requirements Associate’s degree in human resources or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred with 2 to 4 years of human resources experience.
Interpersonal Skills Interact professionally while maintaining effective working relationships with MDHA Leadership, coworkers, company representatives, and government officials; develop and maintain effective working relationships with residents and members of the public. Ability to work effectively under stress, close deadlines, and competing demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing fair housing policies and practices; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing in both formal and informal settings; must be detail-oriented; ability to analytically solve problems, make sound judgments, and exercise good decision-making; ability to perform short and long‑range planning.
Resilience Willingness, mental and physical ability to perform the duties involved in this classification. The ability to perform work with or without accommodation requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk; dexterity of the hands; clarity of vision, speech, and hearing; the power of observation; and other physical duties as required.
Software Management Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft software.
