Position Overview
Registered Nurse – Full‑Time, Respiratory Unit, Summa Health Akron Campus. 7‑week rotation, 36 hrs/week, 7 p‑m‑7:30 a‑m shifts, every other weekend/holiday.
Primary Patient Population Medical/surgical unit specializing in respiratory ailments, including tracheostomy and chronic ventilator patients.
Unit Size and Staffing
28‑bed unit.
Target nurse‑to‑patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6 (subject to change based on census).
Highlights
$5/hr shift differential for nights; $1/hr for weekends.
12‑month nurse residency program for new graduates.
Compensation $33.75/hr – $53.00/hr base salary (excluding bonuses or differentials).

Summary Guided by knowledge of nursing principles, the RN provides, coordinates and/or delegates care, manages resources, and delivers evidence‑based nursing care to patients, families, and the community to restore and maintain optimal health.
Formal Education Required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Associate’s degree applicants must obtain BSN within 3 years.
Graduated from a CCNE‑ or ACEN‑accredited program.
Current RN license in Ohio.
Experience and Training Required
PRN RN’s: at least 1 year recent experience in the area of practice.
Weekend option positions: minimum 1 year related RN experience.Additional specialty experience may be required.\li>
Other Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications
Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination.
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazards.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
ACLSS certification required for critical care areas, must be completed within six weeks of hire.
Population Specific Competency
Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention).
Ability to interact with diverse patient populations with respect, dignity, and diversity.
Level of Physical Demands
Heavy: 50‑100 pounds force occasionally, 25–50 pounds force frequently, 10–20 pounds force continuously to move objects.
