Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, engine electronics, steering systems, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation.
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
Communicate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or meet expectations.
Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization of work and time allocations.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application on an iOS device.
Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to Standard Repair Times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Maintain the company-issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or alternative combinations such as higher-level degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; this position follows FMCSA regulations.
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
Due to interstate operating authority, candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.
