Mobile Diesel Technician Level II As a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II you will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and advanced diagnostics under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher. You will continue to develop advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques, comply with company policies, and achieve high level performance metrics.
DUTIES
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, gas and diesel engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure they are working properly.
Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine relevance of information using sound judgment.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on a company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, solve problems, or satisfy expectations.
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing activities and time allocations.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using a company‑issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely manner.
Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field. Alternative qualifications may include a higher degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 5 years of experience.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration, or complete a DOT physical if the card has four (4) months or less remaining.
Be at least 21 years of age or older.
Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $26.06 – $39.13 per hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may be eligible for additional compensation including commission (annual or monthly) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits Employees receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays each year. Additional paid time off is available for bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
